Why do I have to pay a termination fee to break my lease?
Answer: Once an applicant signs a lease contract (binding agreement) they become a renter. Renters choose lease terms that suits their needs before signing a lease. Once the lease is signed renters are in agreement with all the terms written in the lease agreement. By signing, the renter is agreeing to stay in the rental until the “END” of their lease term. If renters decide to leave the apartment “BEFORE” their lease contract ends many landlords require a termination fee. (see tenantsunion.org on this blog)
My personal thoughts: I’ve gained relationships with most tenants and after telling them how the lease break option works…i pray that they “don’t turn my office out” and lay me out all at the same time…well, I never win in this matter.
